The Wrong Address
Given circumstances
- Character
- Pizza Delivery Driver
- Setting
- A suburban driveway, pizza bag in your hand, house number clearly visible.
- The moment before
- You rang the bell and they opened the door. You looked down at your receipt and back up at the house number. They match. But they're insisting they didn't order anything.
- Scene partner
- The homeowner, standing in their doorway in pajamas
Direction
Absolute certainty turning into desperate confusion. You KNOW you're right until you realize you're not. Play the confidence straight—that's what makes the collapse funny.
Script
HOMEOWNERI didn't order a pizza.
Large pepperoni, extra cheese, 42 Elmwood Drive. That's this house.
I've been doing this job for three years. I know how to read an address.
HOMEOWNERThis is 42 Elmhurst.
(beat)
Elmhurst.
Okay. So. Elmwood is—do you know where Elmwood is? Because I've been driving around for twenty minutes and my GPS keeps bringing me here and this pizza is getting cold and my manager is going to kill me.
