TODAY’S CHALLENGE

The Thing in the Hallway

10

Peter

“The Thing in the Hallway”

Horror · 42s

Built for the performance.
Not the algorithm.

Actors don’t need another place to scroll. They need a place to practice. Act It Up gives them a fresh script every day, and an audience that came here for the craft.

The daily engine

A new stage, every day

A new 60-second scene drops every day, and everyone performs the same one. Daily practice that doesn’t wait on a scene partner — and never a blank screen.

The rep

One scene. One take. Every day.

Build a body of work while you build the habit.

The guardrail

Healthy by design

Time limits for performers under 18 are built in and automatic, not a setting anyone has to go looking for.

The payout

Real money from real fans

Not an opaque creator fund paying in pennies. Viewers back the takes they love, and that converts to cash.

You don’t need an audition to get your reps in.

Actors get better by doing the work, and most days there is no casting call, no scene partner and no class to do it in. Open the app and the work is already there.

No casting call

Today’s scene is the material.

No scene partner

Play your side. In a two-hander, the other lines are on screen.

No class to book

One minute, any day, wherever you are.

How a day works.

Actors improve by working in front of people. Most days there are no people, and no audition to prepare for. This is the part that fixes that.

01

Read the scene

A few lines with a situation behind them. Horror on Monday, a breakup on Tuesday. A monologue one day, one side of a two-hander the next. Written to be playable, not to be clever.

02

Perform it

Record straight to camera with the teleprompter running, so you can stay in it instead of memorising — the same setup as a self-tape, without the deadline. Trim it, keep the take you like, post it.

03

Find out what landed

Get timestamped feedback on specific moments. See exactly where you held their attention and where you lost it — the direct, honest note you can never get from a mirror.

Practice Locker

Rehearse in private. Post when you’re ready.

Not every take is for an audience. Keep your tries in the locker, run the scene again, and send out only the one you would stand behind.

Private by default

A take stays yours until you decide to post it.

Side by side

Put two takes next to each other and see which one is truer.

Post from the locker

Pick the take you like and post it whenever you choose.

Eight genres. Don’t play the same person every day.

Actors who only play one thing get cast as one thing. Spread your takes across genres and find out what else you can do.

  • Drama
  • Comedy
  • Thriller
  • Romance
  • Horror
  • Sci-Fi
  • Classical

Gifts

What a gift is actually worth.

Coins land on the take, not on your profile — so it is the performance that earns, every time. They become points at a fixed rate, and points convert at half a cent each once you pass fifty dollars.

Paid monthly through Stripe, into your own bank account. Performers under 18 earn on the same terms — a parent or legal guardian completes the verification and owns the account the money lands in.

How a payout works

$50minimum before a payout

Past it, every point is worth half a cent.

Paid monthly, on the 15th

Paid through Stripe, into your own bank account. What you earn depends on what viewers back.

The boring parts, taken seriously.

Sixty minutes, then it stops

Drama students and performers under 18 get a one-hour daily cap and blocked overnight hours, applied from their age without anyone opting in. Rehearsal, not an infinite scroll.

Report and block, everywhere

Every take and every account can be reported or blocked from where you are looking at it, and reports are reviewed by a person.

Your takes stay yours

Playback is signed and expires. A link captured once does not keep working after a take is deleted or an account is closed.

Never training data

We do not use your takes or your writing to train AI models, and we do not sell or license them for anyone else to do so.

Not on an iPhone? Use Act It Up on the web.

Sign in with the same account as the app to watch the feed, perform the daily scene on camera and send gifts. Streamers get an overlay for OBS.

The web version is in beta. Messages, the Practice Locker and Pro features like self-tapes are in the app for now.

iOS first

Built for iOS. Android is next.

The teleprompter follows your voice while you perform, and that leans hard on the camera and speech stack. We built it properly on one platform before spreading it thin across two.

One email, when Android is ready. Nothing else.

Tomorrow’s scene is already written.

Do you coach actors?

Start a class, share the join code with your students, and set the scene you want worked on. Your students’ takes stay in the class unless they choose to post them to everyone. Adults only for now — students under 18 can’t join a class yet.
