The Wrong Prescription

Given circumstances

Character
Patient
Setting
Pharmacy counter, fluorescent lights, receipt in your hand.
The moment before
You got home, opened the bottle, and saw pills that don't match what your doctor prescribed. You drove straight back.
Scene partner
The pharmacist, standing behind the counter with your prescription bag

Direction

Start calm and certain. When they deny it, something shifts—you realize they're not confused, they're covering. Don't play paranoid, play someone who just understood the situation.

Script

These aren't right. The bottle says my name, but these aren't the pills my doctor prescribed.

PHARMACISTI filled it myself two hours ago. That's what the system shows.

I've been taking the real ones for six months. I know what they look like. These are different—different shape, different color, no imprint code.

(the pharmacist glances toward the back room)

Who else had access to this prescription between when you filled it and when I picked it up? Because somebody switched them.

PHARMACISTI think you should leave.

I'm not leaving. I'm calling my doctor right now, and we're going to compare what she prescribed to what's in this bottle.
